In this vitriolic atmosphere leading up to the election, I've decided that rather than be confrontational, which I'm not anyway, I'll just take the safe route.
For the time being, I'm going to simply take photographs, post them on my blog and stay away from all things political, with the exception of creating a peace globe and flying it during Mimi's BlogBlast for Peace coming up on Nov. 6.
Actually I hope that is not really seen as a political exercise. We all want peace, don't we?
I have been enjoying taking part in Ruby Tuesday and Creative Photography. My thanks to Mary, The Teach, and Roger at Idaho Photo, for the opportunity to have fun and share some pictures.
As you may have read between the lines, I'm not happy with some of what I have seen around the blogosphere lately. Neither is Ralph, a.k.a. Airhead 55. We've discussed it, and really are trying to figure out what to do.
We both hope that if we say anything on our blogs, we won't lose any friends because of it.

Yesterday I snapped this photo at a reservoir about a mile from our house. I thought I would assign myself to take a photo of this scene every other day or so, to chronicle the changing colors of the trees.
Let's see how well I follow my own directions.

Peace Globes is definitely not a political exercise - at least that is not my intention. If people rant on their blogs that day about politics that is perfectly ok, if they don't it's ok, the focus is unity of purpose.
P.E.A.C.E.
Period.
I have always welcomed everyone's point of view as long as it's not unkind, threatening, or hate-filled. This election is charged with emotion for sure..but we've always managed to politely state our opinions in the past. I hope it continues.
It's your blog, Patti. Say what you want to say. I don't know what you're talking about but you know there are many people here who love both of you. Including me!
If there is anything I can do to help, let me know. Meanwhile, I'll fly our peace globes and pray that we don't have a blog war.
Imagine!
No, no,no......
That would not make Queen happen. I would have to throw everybody in the dungeon and I just don't have enough peanut butter sandwiches for everybody in the blogosphere.
You know that's all I can cook....
Dear Mimi,
Thank you for your kind words.
I hear you make a great bowl of Jello as well!
I think if you read something you don't like somewhere you can either move on or comment and hopefully be respectfully received.
On here this is your house and people should be mindful of that or leave.
Personally I would rather read rants and anger knowing that people are thinking and caring about a critical election. As a child of the 60s I'm actually thrilled to see some fire again.
Now on to important things!! - are you going to be able to find the EXACT same spot every day? Cause I am going to be checking on those trees.
We have very little color here - and today it was hot again!
Dianne: Thanks for your thoughtful comments. I'm a child of the '60s as well. ;-)
I'll let you know about finding the exact spot. Hopefully later today!
I have mentioned a few thing politically on my blog, though it has been more a disgust for the actions of some and how they are spewing hatred.
I am coming her and to Ralph's no matter what you do and hope my few posts have not turned you away from The Couch
Thanks, Vin. I'll be back to sit on that comfy couch.

I've already said I'll be happy when this election is over.
But I don't have a cat... and I can't help but get political from time to time. (And don't tell me to get a cat -- Long Suffering Spouse is allergic.)
I do try and play nice, though.
