Ruby Tuesday

This mural was hanging above the guest book at our nephew's wedding. Notice two people leaning over the table signing the book. Too bad I didn't get a view of the entire mural. I may have had a bit of wine before taking this photo. haha

The wall really was red, just right for Ruby Tuesday.

See lots more photos featuring a little or a lot of red over at Mary T's Work of the Poet blog.

Shadow Shot Sunday ~ Boston at night

If you saw my Ruby Tuesday post or any of Ralph's blog posts this week you know that we took a quick trip to Boston for our nephew Steve's wedding last weekend. It has been a while since we went anywhere and 'twas fun!
We both missed taking part in Tracy's Shadow Shot Sunday meme though.

I snapped these pix on our way back to the hotel Saturday night. The weather was just perfect and lots of folks were enjoying themselves.

See lots more shadowy photos at the aforementioned meme, hosted by our awesome Aussie friend Tracy!

Hi ~

I've been away from blogland for what seems like a long time. Needed a break from computer play time, I suppose. I'm at the computer for work for many hours a day, and sometimes you just gotta say enough is enough and walk away.

At least I do!

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Ruby Tuesday

Ralph and I went to Boston this past weekend. Yippee!
It was a treat to see something different for a bit ~ a change of scenery is always good for the soul.
We attended our nephew's wedding and had a great time seeing family and taking in the sights.
I snapped this shot of the '57 Chevy BelAir convertible that cruised around the block several times while we were sitting outside the bar below:

What a perfect Ruby Tuesday sign! Ralph also posted this photo today for RT.
The apartments upstairs must be inhabited by twenty-somethings. Just a guess.
We joined family members outside for drinks. It was a beautiful evening, plus I'm not young enough to go in a place like that!! It was fun to watch the passing parade. A group of sailors in dress whites walked by and we all applauded and said thank you to them.

I took this photo of the entrance to Quincy Market on our way back to the hotel.

Below we find a carousel in Christopher Columbus Park, across from where we had Father's Day brunch. I spied the red and had to shoot a photo for Ruby Tuesday.

We have more photos from our trip north, but I'm saving some for sepia scenes and such. ;-)

See lots more photos featuring red at Mary T's Work of the Poet.

Back from an unplanned blog break

I was a tad busy with real life. I will post some of the photos Ralph and I took in Boston Saturday and Sunday. We had a lot of fun. It was good to have a change of scenery!

I posted a photo of this perennial when it started blooming Wednesday. This is straight out of the camera this morning...more blooms! I was told it's phlox. Isn't it a pretty shade of pink?

Happy summer to all! It's official.

Look what bloomed today

A Poiple Perennial. I don't know what it's called, but it will be pretty when all the other buds open up as well.

Sepia Scenes ~ feline fun

This stray cat relaxing outside my hairdresser Maureen's shop reminded me of the Top Cat cartoon I watched as a kid. Top Cat lived in a garbage can, but he had all the comforts of home. I can remember the TV antenna on top of the can.
I thought I'd share this video, to bring back wonderful memories for those of a certain age. ;-)
Or those who have seen the show on Cartoon Network or YouTube!
Maureen said she feeds about a dozen strays every morning and evening. She even named some of them. They're lucky to have found her!

Major Internet provider probs...

prohibit Patti from posting, blog visiting. Patti is losing her proverbial mind.

Every function takes a good five minutes. Hoping to get it fixed SOON.

Shadow Shot Sunday ~ in the curio cabinet

Today I visited my hairdresser. Regular readers will remember my previous photographic foray at Maureen's Place back in April! She has a lot of interesting stuff.

I got lots more pix while I was there to share ... stay tuned.

Our patio pal returned today

I took this through an old and not too clear sliding glass door..so I took liberties and enhanced the photo. I thought the contrast would show off our chipmunk friend better. ;-)

Yard Art

Time got away from me last week and I didn't participate in Mary T's Yard Art on Thursdays meme.
But I'm back with a photo of our new garden flag. Never a dull moment around here!

Actually I had a difficult time choosing between this one with a hummingbird and one with a ladybug. My daughter chose this one.

Caught him!

With the camera, I mean. Through the sliding glass door. That's why the picture is not clear.
He must live near the patio, because he keeps coming around.
Why am I calling this chipmunk a he? Maybe he is a she.
How can one tell?

Sepia scenes ~ It's Libby!

Our neighbor Libby visited me Friday as I was snapping a photo. She likes to stop by and say hi. She's a friendly feline.
Below you can see Libby in living color!

Ruby Tuesday ~ anchors aweigh

Yet another shot of the interesting garden lovingly cared for by a friend. I've posted several photos from our visit two weeks ago, most recently on Sunday. This photo is straight out of the camera.
If I had cropped it I would have gotten rid of the dandelion for her.
;-)

Visit our hostess, Mary T, to see many more photos featuring shades of red.

* We are having problems with our Internet connection...it has been slower than slow and after having to struggle with it all day for work yesterday I had to walk away.
Our daughter called the provider last night and they may send someone out today if it's not better. I hope so..it's so aggravating.
I've been bad about visiting blog friends lately. I do hope to catch up with everyone.

Shadow Shot Sunday

I saw these colored jars in a friend's garden I visited the week before last, and knew I had to photograph them. They reminded me of the colored glass photos posted by our blog friend Sylvia K.
And I captured some morning shadows in the bargain!

Go visit our awesome Aussie meme hostess Tracy at Hey Harriet and join in the shadowy fun!

Looking at the Sky on Friday

This is Hawk Hall, the newest dorm on the campus of the University of Hartford.
Our son, Kid Two, lived in it when he was a freshman. It was only a year old at the time.

It's Friday and time to look at the sky. Visit our hostess, Tisha, at CrAzY Working Mom and join the fun.

A neighborly visit

I went out this morning to take a photo of the bloomin' day lilies and look who stopped by to say hi. Why, it's our friendly feline neighbor Libby.
= ^. .^ =

Happy Friday to all!

Sepia scenes ~ steeple

This is one of many century-old churches in a former mill town in southern Connecticut.

This church is beautiful inside, as are all of them built by the immigrants who lived here and toiled in the factories of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

I took this picture from the next street over. Interesting criss-cross of wires, eh? I thought so.

See many more sepia photos at Mary T's Sepia Scenes blog.

They're bloomin'

Straight out of the camera this morning ~ I've been watching these lilies under the front window grow for the past several weeks and today I got my reward!
