Shadow Shot Sunday ~ winter

Winter Sunset, February 2014

I shared this photo on Facebook and got quite a few comments and 'likes' so I thought I'd re-purpose it today as a shadow shot.

And to continue the wintry theme, a snowy shot from this week:

Shadow Shot Sunday ~ sculpture and snow

I spotted this yesterday as I was leaving a company headquarters that I visited for a story for my job.
I'm not sure what it is, other than an interesting piece of art.

Any ideas?

We're expecting another snowstorm today here in Connecticut ...off to the grocery store (of course).

Hope you have a great weekend, snowy or not!

Breast cancer: Surviving and thriving

Apparently I still have trouble writing about myself, because I didn't know how to start writing this post.

But I didn't want this day to go by without recording its significance to moi.

* I'm a three-year breast cancer survivor * as of today.

I received my diagnosis over the phone on Feb. 11, 2011 while we were eating dinner.
Hearing the words from my doctor was rather surreal. It was kinda like, "oh, ok." And I hung up the phone.

Since that day I have had all kinds of experiences ~ much more than the required surgeries, chemo and radiation treatments.

I'm talking about the wonderful experiences of meeting a whole new group of people. Doctors, nurses, radiation techs, fitness trainers, a nutritionist, members of our 'Circle of Friends' breast cancer survivor support group at the Center for Cancer Care at Griffin Hospital in Derby, Ct., exercise class friends, and more. I won't mention any names, lest I forget someone.

Team McVillers at the Center for Cancer Care at Griffin Hospital before the 5K in October.

I've also participated in three Griffin Hospital 5K walks (the last two with my ever-supportive Team McVillers teammates) as well as the second annual Pounding the Pavement for Pink to benefit Seymour Pink, Inc. And I'm looking forward to participating in them again this October.

Although I'm leading a healthier lifestyle than I was three years ago, I know I still have a way to go.

I'm feeling very fortunate today. And I thank all who have helped me along the journey.

Shadow Shot Sunday ~ on Sunday

This is my view outside the back window this morning. We had the dreariest weather imaginable yesterday - rainy and foggy - and I was happy to see sunshine and shadows when I woke up.

And so I had to take a photo!

Shadow Shot Sunday ~ Yuletide

"I'm dreaming of a white Christmas..."

Our town's Christmas tree.

And here's a slightly different angle.

Spotted this at a religious book store in Derby, Ct. about which I wrote a story in December.

I'm happy to be back posting photos. The weeks are flying by, that's for sure.

I wish all my blogosphere friends a Happy and Healthy 2014!
