This is Immanuel St. James Episcopal Church, which is on the opposite side of the Green in Derby, Ct. from the Sterling Opera House which was featured in the sepiafied photo I posted last week.

A bit of levity on a Sunday afternoon...my daughter posted this photo on Facebook. I don't know where she snapped it. I asked her if I could use it on my blog and she said I could.

Life can get in the way of blogging, can't it?

I've been out of the blogospheric loop and now I'm trying to get back in after several days of not visiting folks, for a variety of reasons.
One thing I re-learned this past week is to never take my health for granted. I'm blessed with good health so when something isn't quite right, it takes me by surprise.
That's how I felt this week. No need to go into detail, but I'm feeling better each day.

I did manage to post entries for Ruby Tuesday and Sepia Scenes, hosted by Mary T, The Teach, as well as for Creative Photography hosted by Roger, and Looking at the Sky on Friday, hosted by Tisha, because I really enjoy participating.
I haven't visited those kind folks who have commented on my entries, and I apologize. I hope to catch up with people today and tomorrow.

Looking at the Sky ... at sunset

I snapped this last evening before heading into a meeting. When I got out of the meeting less than an hour later it was dark and snowing/wintry mixing. Weather conditions often change quickly here in southern Connecticut.
The steeple belongs to the Shelton Congregational Church.

Looking at the Sky ~ cold front

I took these Thursday morning as the calm and mild Wednesday weather gave way to wind gusts Thursday. The dark clouds are coming from the west ahead of the front. At least that is my best meterological guess.

Ruby Tuesday ~ ~ ~ Love is in the air

I was running late this week with a Ruby Tuesday post so I just brought some friends outside in the natural light for a photo shoot this morning.
Last year I gave Ralph Pepe Le Pew for Valentine's Day..he loves classic cartoons and I knew he would appreciate this cute skunk character.

I could not get an in-focus close-up of this little bear, so I used an oil painting application for it to hide the blurriness. Cheat much?
At least it has a nice message.

Happy Valentine's Day to all, and that's no monkeying around.

I took this photo of the winter-white sky through the windshield Tuesday while at a red light in New Haven.
As you can see it was starting to snow for the umpteenth time. Not much sky in the picture, but I liked how it came out.

I snapped these this afternoon in the parking lot at the supermarket. The first one was taken at 3:59 p.m. and the second was taken 50 minutes later. I thought the cloud formations were pretty and I was glad I had my camera with me. (they're slightly different views)

It's the same sunset, just seen over a three-minute period from two different vantage points in our neighborhood.

I realize there is not too much sky showing here, but I figured the sun is in the sky (!)

I took these Tuesday ahead of the ice storm we had in Connecticut. Go away, wintry mix!

Here the morning sun is mostly obscured by clouds. I thought it kinda sorta looked like the moon.

Looking at a bleak, white sky

... on New Year's Eve morning.


I took these photos of a white sky Wednesday soon after it started snowing here in southern Connecticut.


After using the sharpen tool I was able to get some of the flakes to appear in the sky. Squint and you just may see some.

I took this last month from the passenger seat as Ralph drove up a nearby hill (we live at the top of one) and posted it already, but I liked it so here it is again. Is that cheating? Hope not.

P.S. Next week I hope to post a photo of Santa and his eight tiny reindeer flying through the sky that I plan to take on Wednesday night.

Can't find the time for more memes ~

I really don't know how some people are so organized to be able to do a different meme every day.
Must get organized.

I know there's the wildly popular Skywatch Friday meme and I've seen awesome photos of cloud formations, sunrises and sunsets posted. I've never played, and I figure once I sign up I'd be committed to play all the time.
That's just me, I guess.
I snapped all three of these earlier this month.

I do have plenty of photo fun doing Ruby Tuesday and Creative Photography each week. They're a great way to share photos and keep your creative juices flowing.
I recommend visiting Mary T, The Teach and Roger in Idaho to learn more and play along!

A lovely award with one condition ~ must do meme

Duchess Linda of Are We There Yet? received this from her friend, Connie, of Brain Foggles and she was kind enough to include me and Ralph among those she chose for this honor, and for that I say merci beaucoup.

The only problem is now I have to complete a meme, and come up with six things that make me happy. Ralph already did this, so it may be difficult for me not to copy him! Mine will no doubt be more succinct than his.

1. Spending time with my family.
2. Enjoying a delicious dinner on a Saturday night, prepared by Ralph, chef extraordinaire.
3. Looking at old photos, and taking lots more photos of everyday life.
4. Finding an interesting story to write for my job, and likewise for my blog.
5. Feeling a sense of accomplishment after teaching a Sunday School class.
