I shared this photo on Facebook and got quite a few comments and 'likes' so I thought I'd re-purpose it today as a shadow shot.

 When Ralph is driving, I like to take photos through the windshield. I'm easily amused, I suppose.

These are five of the nine I took Saturday. It had been a gorgeous day at an outdoor event we attended.

The view is along I-95 in southeastern Connecticut, as we headed home.

Looking at the Sky on Friday

On Wednesday afternoon I noticed the sky was ablaze, so I put on my shoes and coat and drove a half-mile to a school parking lot that offers fantastic sunset vistas. I was about five minutes late for capturing the orange orb, but this is what I got.

I haven't participated in this fun meme for a while, and it's good to be back.

After spending a snowy day at home I went out to mail some bills, and to cheer myself up after parting with a lot of moola I took photos of the setting sun and the edge of another front heading toward us.

It flurried for a few minutes after I snapped these.

Sunsets always offer photo opps

I've been low on blog post material outside of fun photo memes lately. The sun is setting as I write this and I just grabbed these quick shots. They were taken in the same minute, amazingly enough.

Since our camera no longer works, Kid One came to the rescue yesterday and took some photos of the new fallen snow as the sun was setting. She did a great job. Here you can see we didn't stack up the patio chairs and table before the snow.

I'll call this December afternoon sunset. How's that for original? I just snapped this through the window a short while ago so as not to miss out on this week's Looking at the Sky.

Looking at the Sky on Friday

These photos are straight out of the camera. I took this November sunset from the parking lot of the nearby high school in our neighborhood. We live in the hilltop section of town, and as you can see we get some great sunset views from here.

I was going to crop out the light pole in the second photo, but kept it in to provide contrast - artificial light versus the beautiful natural light in the background.

Looking at the Sky ~ from passenger window

This is on our way home from the family Fourth of July get-together last Friday, on I-91 south in Connecticut.
The fireworks display was cancelled, the rain was on and off all day, but we did see a pretty sunset on the ride home.

When we got closer to home on Route 15 rain started sprinkling the windshield and I got to capture this effect:

Sunsets and their reflections. Aren't they beautiful?

This is last Saturday's sunset reflected on clouds to the north of us.


When I turned around this is what I saw to the south. Not a cloud in the sky.

Looking at the Sky ... at sunset

I snapped this last evening before heading into a meeting. When I got out of the meeting less than an hour later it was dark and snowing/wintry mixing. Weather conditions often change quickly here in southern Connecticut.
The steeple belongs to the Shelton Congregational Church.

It's the same sunset, just seen over a three-minute period from two different vantage points in our neighborhood.

I realize there is not too much sky showing here, but I figured the sun is in the sky (!)

Sunset = inspiration

May I post an addendum to my sky watching post from earlier today?
I guess it's OK, it's my blog.

I was inspired by a beautiful sunset, and just got done taking some photos of it through the (not particularly clear) window. This one came out the best.

January sunset

I snapped this yesterday afternoon from our living room window. I admire the beautiful photos people post on their blogs, and I've been inspired to pick up my camera. (Thanks, Michele, for being a part of my inspiration.)
