Drama in the morning

Clouds

Bright on one side of the house, foreboding on the other.

The sky was dramatic-looking this morning when I went outside to get the newspaper, so I came back in and grabbed the camera.

These shots are straight out of the camera.

Have a great Saturday ~

After the raindrops

There was a passing shower this morning. In these photos the dark cloud on the left is being pushed away by fluffy ones coming from the West.

It's sunny now. Yay! Happy Wednesday to all.

Looking at the Sky on Friday

This is how the sky looked Sunday afternoon on our way to Hartford.

And this is how the sky had changed a few hours later, on the return trip:

(Top photo taken through windshield; lower photo through the passenger-side window. But regular readers probably guessed that already.)

Looking at the Sky on Friday

Taken through the windshield Saturday on Route 15 somewhere in south central Connecticut.

And no, I wasn't the driver. ;-)

Spotted on Saturday

Yes, a beautiful blue sky in Connecticut.

Photo was taken from the passenger seat, as usual, as Ralph drove us to Hartford. I was happy with the photo, since I snapped it while we were going about 55 mph on I-91.

By the time we got there a half hour later the sky was no longer blue.

Back to gray.

Spring can't arrive soon enough. I'm sure most folks reading this would agree.

Sepia scenes ~ sci-fi?

This has to be the ugliest photo I've ever sepia-fied. The more I looked at it, the more it looked like something out of science fiction.
The bucket trucks caught my eye from the passenger seat while Ralph and I were stopped at a light.

Here is the original:

I suppose the original is a bit prettier, with its blue sky and dramatic cloud formations. It's good to experiment, right?

Visit Mary T's Sepia Scenes blog to see many more sepia-fied photos.

Looking at the Sky ~ clouds at sunrise

I went out in the front yard to take photos of the sunrise last week. The kids at the bus stop nearby seemed to be wondering what I was doing. I felt like saying "just look at the beautiful cloud formations!" but I didn't.

Looking at the Sky on Friday

... in late September.
Ah, such fluffy clouds passed over our house Tuesday. I had to take a quick shot of them to post for Friday.

Looking at the Sky

I took this in April, when Ralph and I took a brief daycation to the beach in West Haven, Ct.
Haven't taken any photos this week, so I went to our archives. Gazebos always make for a scenic shot, don't they?

Looking at the Sky ~ at sunset

Sunsets and their reflections. Aren't they beautiful?

This is last Saturday's sunset reflected on clouds to the north of us.

When I turned around this is what I saw to the south. Not a cloud in the sky.

Thanks, Tisha, for this fun meme.

~ Looking at the Sky ~ in Paris

I didn't have a fresh, new sky photo to post today, so Ralph suggested I go back into our dusty, old archives. So I did. Tee hee.
This picture shows but a small portion of the beautiful Gothic cathedral, Notre Dame de Paris. It's a must-see when in Paris. I took it on a school trip with my daughter in April 2005.
I like the dramatic clouds.

Looking at the Sky

Such drama seen from a shopping center parking lot! The clouds were everywhere Thursday, but today the sky is clear and blue. Ah, our ever-changing weather.

Happy Weekend to all!

Looking at the Sky

I took a bunch of cloud photos one morning in March. I posted some of the series, but not these. At least I don't think I did. ;-)
The morning sky was pretty dramatic there for a while! The first one is from the back door.

I made this one a bit darker so that the clouds would stand out more.
Ralph and I are going out for some fun and frolic today, and I hope to get some more sky photos to post next Friday.

Looking up on Christmas Day

I liked the way the sky looked on Christmas afternoon, so this is my entry for this week's Looking at the Sky on Friday meme. Below I experimented with 'auto level' on the photo.

Sky gazing with Tisha and friends

I took this last month from the passenger seat as Ralph drove up a nearby hill (we live at the top of one) and posted it already, but I liked it so here it is again. Is that cheating? Hope not.

To take part in this new meme created by Tisha, visit her at Crazy Working Mom.

P.S. Next week I hope to post a photo of Santa and his eight tiny reindeer flying through the sky that I plan to take on Wednesday night.
Wish me luck that I get a good shot!

Taken from the driver's seat ...

...while at a red light.
I was trying to concentrate on the road, but the clouds got in my way.

Creative photograph #13 - 1

A writer friend of mine, Sarah, got married four years ago this week on a perfect September day in Connecticut. The lakeside setting for the wedding was spectacular, as you can see.

Here I decided to put the bride and groom into an oil painting. Click on it for full painting effect.

Then I tried a Black & White effect, which reminds me of wedding photos from the '40s and '50s. Sarah, who is a stunning young woman, reminds me of Elizabeth Taylor in that classic 1950 movie, "Father of the Bride."

* * *

P.S. Please click on all of them to get a good look.

This is my entry in Roger's Creative Photography contest #13-1. (According to newly posted rules that have me a bit confused, but I am giving it a whirl.)

To join in the fun, visit Idaho Photo. Thanks as always, Roger, for hosting. And thanks to the judges for judging.

The sky's the limit

This post is dedicated to three friends who recently have shared many photos of clouds on their blogs. Now when I see interesting cloud formations I'm reminded of Linda, Mimi, and Bee.

Here are some I took during our son Cameron's graduation:

The formation below reminds me of the opening scene from The Simpsons:

And here are two I took at our friend Bill's graduation last week from The Sound School on Long Island Sound:

And a photo I snapped in October '05. Too bad about the telephone lines..
