I had lunch yesterday at a new restaurant with daughter Allegra and a friend.

When we were paying at the counter our friend pointed out this shadow..he knows Ralph and I are into shadow shots!

Shadow Shot Sunday ~ sunny!

I always appreciate alliteration, as many bloggers do.

Snapped this when I went with blogging friend Linda of Are We There Yet? fame to the Northwest hills of Connecticut to do some leaf peeping and foliage picture taking. She drove, I pointed at trees and hills and said "pretty!"

Can you figure out what hour (Daylight Savings Time) we were on the Norfolk, Ct. Green?

Now that I look at it again, I think the sundial was using Eastern Standard Time. I know it was later in the afternoon than what it shows here.

The inscription says "My days are as a shadow and there is none abiding."

Food for thought. ;-)

I love October!

Backyard colors

So, howza 'bout some more foliage photos? I love October, and suddenly it is coming to a close.

Note to Duchess Linda: I told you we could have stayed and taken photos in the backyard. Think of all the money you could have saved on gas!

But I must admit we had a "gas" Saturday exploring the Northwest hills of Connecticut.

The first photo was taken through the back window.

Fall foliage found

On second glance through my photos, I realized I did get some pretty foliage shots Saturday whilst snapping pix with Linda. (See here and here)

We laughed as we drove further north, only to find a lot of leafless trees.

Our immediate reaction was "where are all the leaves?" because although there was color, it was kinda sparse.

But there were some trees that cooperated. ;-)

Here are some pretty Litchfield County leaves, for all you leaf-lovers out there!

These first two photos were taken through the windshield. Not only do I do that when Ralph drives, I also take pix when Linda is the driver. It's nice to just sit and snap photos, and leave the driving to someone else. I guess I'd make a good tourist!

I really liked the way this limb on an old old tree on the Norfolk Green curled down and then back up.
The last photo was taken at the foot of Haystack Mountain in Norfolk. That's as far as we got on that mountain..the foot!

All of the above were straight out of the camera. I think if I worked with them a bit the colors could really come alive, don't you think?

After the raindrops

There was a passing shower this morning. In these photos the dark cloud on the left is being pushed away by fluffy ones coming from the West.

It's sunny now. Yay! Happy Wednesday to all.

This morning I got a close-up for the first time of a bee doing his thing ~

Mystery photo ~

Hop, hop. Twitch, twitch.

It's a bunny, I know, but I don't know where he came from. Seems like someone's pet escaped from its hutch. It doesn't look like any of the brownish-colored wild bunnies I've seen.

I was walking in the yard last evening talking to my mother on the phone. It was starting to get dark and I saw what I thought was a black cat. Well, it was a wascally wabbit. =<^.^>=

I ran for the camera, and took these pix on night mode. I lightened them on the computer because the bunny was in the shadows and you couldn't have seen him otherwise.

He hopped away after a few minutes. I hope he found his way home!

Ooooh...ahhh!

I ended up seeing two fireworks displays this weekend: one on Friday night and one on Saturday night. Woo hoo! I'm sure we could find one tonight, since it's the actual Fourth of July, but I'll pass. I did have fun experimenting with the point and shoot.

The above ones were taken on Friday night in Derby, Ct. Below are fireworks we went to last night with a bunch of relatives in Manchester, Ct. So many towns in New England have the same names as towns in England.

Hmmm...I wonder why that is?

And that's what we are celebrating today ~ our nation's Independence from the Crown. Like how I tied that all in?

I was further away from the fireworks for these photos. It made a difference!

Bonus shot: Our grand-nephew Adam using a toy tennis racket as a guitar at our family's Fourth of July party Saturday. Isn't he adorable?

Welcome to Boston on a sunny June morning...

I had to "straighten" both of these city scene photos. I was tired when I took them, after having attended our nephew's wedding the day before in the Parris Room, located on the second floor above the bustling Quincy Market/Faneuil Hall in Boston.

I've been away from Tisha's fun meme for a while, but I hope to get it together and participate regularly.

I took this through an old and not too clear sliding glass door..so I took liberties and enhanced the photo. I thought the contrast would show off our chipmunk friend better. ;-)

With the camera, I mean. Through the sliding glass door. That's why the picture is not clear.

He must live near the patio, because he keeps coming around.

Why am I calling this chipmunk a he? Maybe he is a she.

Hi all,

The mystery shadow (in today's previous post) is from the old charcoal grill on the patio. Thanks for playing along.

We are going to trash the grill. It's rusted out.

Ralph sent away for a hibachi. He remembers his parents using one in the good old days. I hope he likes it!

More azaleas

I just went outside and took a few more azalea photos. They won't last much past Mother's Day, unfortunately.

Yes, they do need a bit of a trim. We'll get to it.
