Impressions

I took this photo in our backyard late Monday afternoon and just got done playing with it. I think it resembles an Impressionist painting now. Monet, anyone?

Shadow Shot Sunday

This is my first foray into Shadow Shot Sunday, a photo meme that has intrigued me for a while. My husband Ralph started participating a month ago, and now it's my turn.
~
I took this last Saturday at our city's annual harvest festival on Main Street. I've been able to get a lot of blog posts this week out of the photos I took that day. Woo hoo!

To see more shadowy shots visit our hostess, Tracy at Hey Harriet.

Seasonal scenes ~ and another vignette app

I took this photo yesterday of the autumn leaves along the driveway leading to our town's high school.
I photographed the same trees in April from the other end of the driveway when they were a lovely shade of pink. I'd say they're beautiful in both seasons.

Have a lovely Sunday. I'm off to teach a Sunday school lesson this morning. Woo hoo!

Creative photography

Last night I dreamt about walking on this Greenway, so I knew that was supposed to be my subject for Roger's creative photography meme this week.

Creative Photography

I took this Jan. 31 through the van window as Ralph was driving in Hartford, on our way to visit our kids at the University of Hartford, which is just about a mile down the road. I thought this beautiful church might look good in an oil painting, and this is what I came up with:

Creative Photography: 'The Brothers Furr '

This is a photo of our cats (Linus on the left, Rigby on the right) from last summer, looking out the slider. So what do you think of their moo-cow markings?

I like how it turned out, so I am sharing it here with you lucky readers.

Creative Photography ~ Sweet

I snapped this in September at the PEZ candy manufacturing plant about eight miles from our house.
I played a bit with the hue and sharpness. Not too creative, but kinda fun!

This is taken from the company's Web site, PEZ.com : "PEZ was first marketed as a compressed peppermint candy over 70 years ago in Vienna, Austria. The name PEZ was derived from the German word for peppermint... PfeffErminZ. Today, over 3 billion PEZ Candies are consumed annually in the U.S.A. alone. "

Was that interesting? I thought so. ;-)

Creative Photography

Experimenting here. I took this photo through the windshield as we were going through the West Rock Tunnel in New Haven, Ct. My son said it would help the photo below if I could use a blur brush, but we don't have the software.

Please look at the second photo from a distance of about six feet from your monitor. Gracias!

Anyhoo, this is what I learned Saturday: There is light at the end of the tunnel.

Creative Photo

When I haven't taken a particularly creative photo during the week, I fall back on my archives from when I was fortunate enough to travel to Paris twice with my daughter on school trips, in February, 2004 and April, 2005.

The photo shows a small part of King Louis XIV's 'backyard,' for lack of a better term, at the 700-room Palace of Versailles.

It was taken on Feb. 19, 2004 on a cold and dreary day. I was wandering about for awhile by myself, after getting separated from the group.
Below I gave the photo some 'hue.' Oui, oui!

Hey Roger, lend me an ear!

~ It's Vincent Van Gogh's Ear Award ~

Van Gogh's Ear Award

I was one of many bloggers who were honored with this award from the one and only Roger of Idaho Photo fame. He is the talented guy who started Creative Photography, which originally was a contest but is now a weekly meme. No pressure! Just fun sharing photos with other bloggers!
No one ever gave me an ear before.

Thank you again, Roger, for keeping me focused.

Creative Photography

Maybe not creative, but a cat capture, anyway. This is Rigby, also known as McLoopy!

Creative Photo #16 - Week 2

I took this in Paris in February, 2004. We had to stand in line for a long time to get into the Musee d'Orsay but it was well worth the wait out in the cold.

When we inched closer to the entrance of the huge building (a former railway station) there were several sidewalk performers there to entertain the crowd. Here is one of them. I wish I could tell you what song he was playing.

Creative Photo #16 - Week 1

As you can see, I took this photo in Paris on Feb. 19, 2004. If I had cropped out the time and date stamp I would have lost the base of the obelisk, so I didn't.
I love the colors of the sky in this shot.

Creative Photo #15 - Week 3

Rigby is, as Ralph often says, a knucklehead. He thinks he can get at the leaves swirling around the patio on a windy day. He keeps trying and bumping into the window. He's doing that as I type this.

I liked this photo I took this morning because his sweet face is visible in the reflection.

It's my entry into Roger's Creative Photography contest this week.

Creative Photo #15 - Week 2

Last week I said my entry in Roger's Creative Photography contest might not be creative, but it was a capture.
Well, Sunday morning I captured the cats sunning themselves behind a window blind, so I can repeat myself here as I post this series... I know the photos are not creative, but I just think our cats are so adorable when they do stuff like this.

Is it me or does it seem that Rigby and Linus have all the fun around here? What a life.

So there you have it. My entry into Roger's contest this week.

Creative Photo # 15 - Week 1

Don't know if this is creative, but it is a capture! I'd enter these photos in the "series" category, if there were one. I snapped the pictures over about a two-minute time period.

Linus loves to poke around in shopping bags when I get home from the grocery store. Come to think of it, his brother Rigby does too. But this is all about Linus today.

Then he exited the bag. No more photo ops here.

This is my entry in Roger's Creative Photography contest this week.

Creative Photo #14- Week 4

Here is "Autumn morning." How's that for an original name? Tee hee.
I like how the sky came out. The sun filtered through the clouds at an angle that gave the picture an interesting quality, I think.

Below is how it looked after I used some contrast

Which one is your favorite?

This is my rock collection.

Every time one falls out of my head, I put it in this box. I've been collecting rocks for quite a while.

It's fun to share and to visit other people to see what they have entered in the contest.
