Shadow Shot Sunday 2 ~ Ralph in shades

I snapped this photo at last week's Dr. Ya Ya Dirty Rice Revue R&B concert on the Derby, Ct. Green.

Ralph (Airhead 55 for the uninitiated) also used photos from the concert for his Shadow Shot Sunday offering today.

In the background you see the stately Sterling Opera House, one of my favorite buildings ever.

Shadow Shot Sunday

{Straight out of camera shadow shot}

I had lunch yesterday at a new restaurant with daughter Allegra and a friend.

When we were paying at the counter our friend pointed out this shadow..he knows Ralph and I are into shadow shots!

Shadow Shot Sunday

Welcome to our downtown! Well, a portion of a shadowy sidewalk anyway.

Today was a simply glorious Saturday for a street fair ~ and we were there for the seventh annual Harvest Festival.
It featured food, fun, craft vendors, live music, kiddie rides, pumpkins, cornstalks, hay bales, scarecrows, and more..

You'll have to take my word for it, since these are the only pictures I snapped. ;-)

Shadow Shot Sunday

I hope reflections count as shadows. Ralph tells me they do.
;-)

I would not want to miss out on participating in Shadow Shot Sunday for two weeks in a row. I wasn't happy that I didn't get around to posting anything last weekend.

I took a walk with a friend yesterday morning and took some photos. It was nice out; the heat hadn't yet gotten out of hand at 7:30 a.m.

The river was so calm, almost mirror-like, and I think these photos make an old mill town look nice. Hope you agree!

Shadow Shot Sunday

Another week, another chance to seek shadows in our world. And take photos of them. And post the photos on our blogs!
I didn't have to go far to find these shadows.
Below I give you a mystery photo:

Any guesses?

Go check out lots of shadowy pix at Hey Harriet, hosted by our Aussie friend, Tracy, in Brisbane.

I wish a Happy Mother's Day weekend to all!

Shadow Shot Sunday

I stepped out in the front yard today and found these shadows. And I didn't think I would have anything to post for this fun (and addictive!) meme.

Shadow Shot Sunday

Ralph's long-awaited new vehicle is the subject of today's shadow pic.
And it was also featured here yesterday. ;-)

Shadow Shot Sunday

This is the Unitarian Meeting House that is a quarter-mile from the entrance to the campus of the University of Hartford. The architecture of the building always intrigues me when we go past, and when we drove by in November I snapped a photo. I was lucky to capture a few shadows. Click on the photo to get a better look, and you can read about the church here.

Shadow Shot Sunday

I posted this photo last December, but that was long before I knew about Shadow Shot Sunday.

It's Dec. 5, and the holiday season is upon us. Our cats, Ralph, and I are getting ready for another festive Yuletide!
Our goal is to have everything ready before our children come home from college.

Shadow Shot Sunday

It's that winsome Rigby again! I took this last year, but it still works for a Shadow Shot Sunday post, I'd say.

Shadow Shot Sunday - Rigbert of the Opera

I originally posted this photo in October 2008, long before I knew about Shadow Shot Sunday. I think it qualifies, don't you?
This is what I wrote at the time:

Rigby was looking out the front door at me ("Are you coming back in the house, Mommy?") when I took this picture. To me he looks like he is wearing a 'Phantom of the Opera' mask. Maybe that's just me.

Shadow Shot Sunday

This is Konover Center on the campus of the University of Hartford.
I thought I'd try black and white, since shadows are black, aren't they?

Below is the original:

Shadow Shot Sunday

We picked up our daughter this afternoon at the University of Hartford and I spied this great shadow on the side of the Hartt School of Music. I took a quick shot through the windshield.
Below are November shadows playing on the on-campus apartment building where Allegra lives.

Sepia scenes ~ shadowy

It's moi photographing our neighbor, Libby, in our driveway.
Our two cats, Linus and Rigby, stay indoors. We want to keep them safe and sound.
And they certainly don't like it when I interact with (pet and talk to) Libby. They watch me from the front window and seethe. At least I imagine they're seething. Sorry, guys.

For more pictures of this friendly feline, see my post from Sunday.

Shadow Shot Sunday

This is my first foray into Shadow Shot Sunday, a photo meme that has intrigued me for a while. My husband Ralph started participating a month ago, and now it's my turn.
~
I took this last Saturday at our city's annual harvest festival on Main Street. I've been able to get a lot of blog posts this week out of the photos I took that day. Woo hoo!

Sunday morning in the garden

Shadows can be interesting ...
This guy has weathered many a winter around here and he still looks strong.
That's all from here on the day after the Fourth of July. Have a peaceful Sunday.

>> Playing with a shadow <<

This morning I spied a cool shadow on the house. Ran for camera and took photo, then had fun playing around with it a bit.

Outside my window

I admit it. I was looking out the window for inspiration to write today's story for the paper. It's a fun story, about bats, but I'm tired, and need to be inspired.

I snapped this because I liked the way the shadow of the branches looks on the snowy backyard.
Didn't bother to crop it, so you can see the time I took it.
OK, back to work.

There will be a 'wacky cat' update, never fear.
