Serene springtime scene in Seymour

Legion Pool ~  May 29, 2013

It's such a beautiful park, and it's just off busy Route 67 in Seymour.

Hi, tulips

Sunny but cold

I forgot to bring the tulips inside last night. Happy they survived!

Somebody doesn't like it when I leave the house to take his "big brother" to catch the bus.
I get that look when I return.

Happy early spring

Took a work break and went outside for a minute.

I call these photos "Yellow forsythia against a beautiful blue midday sky." Descriptive, eh?

The pix are straight out of the camera.

I'm happy it's March

That means spring is just around the corner.

When in doubt about what to post, I will henceforth write about the weather and the changing seasons!

I can't get into any trouble that way.

This was the scene this morning in our front yard.

Looks promising, doesn't it?

SpRiNg!

White azalea in the morning sun.

This is a "bleeding heart" plant, also know by its official name, Dicentra. The delicate pink blossoms don't last long; but it's a hardy perennial and will remain a green plant for the summer.

Sepia scenes - blowin' in the wind

Just dandy.

This is our front yard. It was just mowed the other day, but they came ba-a-a-ack.

A lucky capture

I rarely get this close to a bird to get a good photo, but apparently this robin wasn't too scared as I walked toward her this afternoon. I'm assuming it's a her. It's fun to actually get one on the ground, and not flying away, which is what usually happens.

Shadow Shot Sunday

I opened the front door this morning and these are the shadows I saw.

Spring has sprung!

Hope everyone has a great weekend! It's nice and sunny at the moment here; keeping fingers crossed it stays that way.

Go see many more shadowy photos at Hey Harriet, hosted by Tracy.
Welcome back, Tracy! We missed you while you were moving. Happy autumn to you guys on the other side of the world!

First forsythia flower found

I was so happy to see this in our yard yesterday on the first day of SpRiNg!

Happy vernal equinox

Today is the first day of spring. Time to celebrate with some cheesy clip art!
I'd photograph flowers if there were any in our yard.
But alas, it's only March.

Looking at the Sky on Friday

Lovely blue skies...

I saw some wispy clouds out there this evening. It's nice that's it's still light out, and the weather has been beautiful today.
Spring is on its way ~ yay!

Visit Tisha, our hostess, at CrAzY Working Mom to see lots more sky photos and join the fun.

Yard art

It's true; I try.
I've posted this before, but not for a photo meme..

Sign of spring

A touch of green peeking out from the leaves in the front yard caught my eye, and I ran inside and got the camera. First sign of spring! Woo hoo!

I used edge blur on the surrounding leaves and mulch because it's raining and everything looks a bit blurred around here. It's wet and muddy, but at least it's not snow.

Spring is on the way...

Shadow Shot Sunday

That's me taking a photo of a plastic patio chair last July. I posted these photos at the time, but not for a meme!

I can't wait to see the tiger lilies in bloom again in our backyard. This weekend we change the clocks and spring forward, so that's a good sign that spring is on its way. Happy weekend and shadow seeking to all!

Visit our hostess, Tracy, at Hey Harriet to see many more shadowy photos from around the world.

Ruby Tuesday ~ gnomes and babies

This is a continuation of last week's Ruby Tuesday story about my injured gnomes. I forgot to put this gnome in the photo too. He lost a leg a few winters ago to the snow thrower.
I took this photo in the dark as an experiment. 'Night mode' worked.

And this is baby Cameron and me at a family get-together in '91. He's 6 foot-3 now.
That's one of his aunts trying to touch his chubby leg.

See that? Ralph isn't the only one who can dig into our family photo archives to come up with a photo for blog posting! I feel empowered.

Like this Ruby Tuesday badge? I do! I feel healthier just looking at it.

Leora W., author of Here in HP, is a talented artist, web site designer and developer who created the badge a while ago. She offered it up for the taking. So I finally took it! Thanks, Leora.

Spotted on Saturday

Yes, a beautiful blue sky in Connecticut.

Photo was taken from the passenger seat, as usual, as Ralph drove us to Hartford. I was happy with the photo, since I snapped it while we were going about 55 mph on I-91.

By the time we got there a half hour later the sky was no longer blue.

Back to gray.

Spring can't arrive soon enough. I'm sure most folks reading this would agree.

Silly Sunday ~ the sequel

So this is what caught the ostrich's eye last week: a rather silly-looking woman pushing a tiller, getting the ground ready for spring planting. Apparently she likes to get dressed up when she does yard work.

The fountain intrigued me as well. I would call this an eclectic collection of stuff for sale, wouldn't you? I had to take a photo as we were driving by. The scene caught my eye.
It helps to be in the passenger seat!

Last Sunday I asked people to guess what the ostrich at right was looking at ~ you can read the post here.

Will I come up with another Silly Sunday post next week? At the moment I just don't know.

Flying into a new week

I was happy with this capture, with the bits of snow scattering off the gutter when the bird took off. I snapped this as I was taking photos of the robins that appeared in our front yard Thursday, as you can see here. Spring must be on its way..

I tried to white out some of the mildew under the house. Hope it worked.

Harbingers of an early spring?

~ Please click on photos to enlarge ~

Ralph and I were startled this morning to see not one, not two, but a bunch of robins in our front yard and across the street. I ran for the camera and took several photos.
Not sure if these were taken through the window. I tried to open the door to get a better shot, but they got scared away.

My theory is that it was so cold down South that the robins decided they might as well come back home to Connecticut. They are the state bird, after all.
