Ruby Tuesday

Got weeds?
I found this red in the yard this morning. It's growing like a weed. We have a lot of overgrown shrubs that need attention. But not today.

Patti, it looks like Rhubarb... Never liked it, though my grandma used to make rhubarb pie long, long ago! :) Happy Ruby Tuesday!

It's NOT rhubarb, Patti! It's pokeweed and said to make you very sick if you eat it. I personally think it's very pretty and wish it were hardy enough to grow in my flower gardens...but many people do call it a weed.

EG: I would never eat it. Thanks for looking out for me!

The stems are a very attractive shade of red, a timely find for Ruby Tuesday.

The weed looks familiar - I see it has been identified as pokeweed. We have it around here.

I often see lovely weeds. Perhaps if we gave them a name then they'd no longer be weeds and we could freely let them grow in our yards and gardens. :) Why waste time tending weeds? Just photograph them. LOL Wonderful Ruby Tuesday photo.

Interesting red. I have to agree with the rhubarb comment, but rhubarb is kind of hard to get started. It needs a male and female plant to even reproduce a plant for the second year. And it generally comes up in the sring and stays all summer.
I love rhubarb. You have to put it in something sweet, like a strawberry marshmallo rhubarb cake. Or strawberry and rhubarb jam is fantastic.
Very nice photo! And thanks for stopping by today!

I just scrolled down your comments. I was wrong with the rhubarb, I think is is the weed. Scratch the jam making for the day!

I'll trade you weeds for boxes that need to be emptied...

Well, maybe not!

it is a weed and I believe it is poisinious it often takes over the area where it grows as well.

I was going to guess rhubarb too - shows what I know. (FYI, don't EVER take gardening advice from me - my thumb is so black I could kill plastic plants!)

I thought it was rhubarb, too, but the berries at the end gave it away as not being so.

Of course, that's not stopping me from craving a strawberry-rhubarb pie right now!

Weed isn't necessarily ugly,it's just growth out of control.
Every spring I admire the first dandelions, but as months go by they're taking over my garden, that's when I say no.
Your shrubs are very photogenic.
