Ruby Tuesday ~ school days

 

I drove our son back to school yesterday afternoon. He is a computer science major at the University of Hartford (Ct.).

I snapped this through the passenger window while I was waiting at the light. Not too exciting, but at least it's red! And that means I can use it for a Ruby Tuesday post.

I spotted my clip-on sunglasses on the table and took a photo. It was unplanned, but I like the weird way the photo came out.

I found some dried-up red berries in the yard last week. As soon as I saw them I thought of Ruby Tuesday. It might be a choke cherry weed thingy.

I did my best to get a close-up shot. I like the red against the blue sky.

Phew! I was a bit panicked this afternoon when I had no photo to post for Ruby Tuesday.

I went into my daughter's room and found one of the cats in her collection has bright red ears.

I took him outside for a photo shoot and here's the result. Unfortunately none of the other kitties have any red on them, or we could have had a group shot.

This little cat needs a name. Any suggestions?

My Travelocity gnome, right, and his little friend (standing in his shadow) are checking on the conditions of two injured colleagues.

The guy with the blue hat looking at the camera lost his left arm due to a snow thrower accident, as did the sad-looking chap in the center pushing the wheelbarrow. It wasn't my fault. I don't use the snow thrower. Just sayin'.

Sad to say several of my outdoor gnomes have been lost to the snow thrower. (I didn't do it!)

Luckily this guy is safe hanging out in a spider plant inside.

Ruby Tuesday ~ service project

On Friday I wrote about a cookie-baking marathon run by students at a local high school. Click here to read the story. The cookies were to be sent to U.S. troops all over the world.

This is the eighth (non-consecutive) year that the school's Distributive Education Clubs of America program has held the Stay Awake and Bake event. The tradition was revived after a four-year hiatus, during which the program focused on other community service projects, the advisor said.

These are the cartons the teens packed with boxes of sugar cookies. I thought they did a nice job wrapping them!

They said they hoped the treats would reach their destinations by Valentine's Day.

Kudos to the 22 students who gave up their Friday afternoon and evening to express their gratitude to troops serving our country.

I got this little bathrobe-wearing bear for Christmas. He's seated in a ceramic bathtub.

Ruby Tuesday ~ Christmas fun

See how happy Ralph looks to meet Santa Claus on Christmas Eve. He doesn't like posing for photos, but I think this one came out well. His sister, Sharon, looks like she is enjoying Santa's visit too.

I also had "fun" meeting Santa that night, but he got a bit too close. He sat on my lap! Yikes.

I think someone in the family got a photo of that. At least I hope so.

"Hurry up in there!"

Our little great-nephew Adam, who is actually not so little for someone who was born three months early, appears to be waiting in line for the bathroom on Thanksgiving. He got his cool "gold" necklace when he was visiting another relative earlier in the day.

You can see our Kid Two, Cameron, in the background. Maybe he was going to get in line, too.

I hope this photo works for Ruby Tuesday. There is some red in Adam's shirt, and he has a red B (for Boston Red Sox) on his shoes. ;-)

It's a stretch, I know.

Ruby Tuesday

I wasn't looking for Ruby Tuesday last Friday but "Ruby" found me, as you can see above.

We pulled into the parking lot at Advanced Wheels where our future min-van will be modified for Ralph. I was surprised this tree had so many red leaves left on it on Nov. 20. And the breeze was just enough to unfurl Old Glory.

Ruby found me again today when I was stopped at a light, as you can see below.

It took me a minute to figure out what this sign meant.

I was on assignment and luckily had the camera on the seat next to me. The red Staples store sign is in the background. And there is that red pickup parked there.

I went outside Sunday to get a shot of this shadow on the house for next week's Shadow Shot Sunday meme, and was able to get a Ruby Tuesday photo at the same time.

Ruby Tuesday ~ fall colors and seasonal riddles

On Saturday I found a few spots of red amongst the yellow berries winding their way through some forsythia in our side yard.

The picture wasn't too exciting, so I added some 'edge blur.' Ha ha.

This is through the windshield of Ralph's van..that's why it's not clear..but at least it's red. I decided not to be a perfectionist.

I found this red in the yard this morning. It's growing like a weed. We have a lot of overgrown shrubs that need attention. But not today.
