Yesterday I read a second newspaper account, this one published in a weekly, about my mother's dramatic ladder rescue from her smoke-filled bedroom.
Her name wasn't mentioned, which is fine. Just her age and the address. Anyway, the quote from the firefighter who rescued her will stay with me always. He said, "She was as cool as a cucumber. She was getting a little 'antsy,' and rightly so."
Oh, boy. My mother is too much. All she was wearing was a nightgown. She said he told her to drop herself onto him. He was on a ladder, 15 feet up. She hesitated, apparently. "I can take it," she told me he said. Whew.
I'm hoping she is released from the hospital today. It has been a long haul.
On this Thanksgiving morning I'm in no condition to write a serious post about being thankful. Although I feel I should.
But before all this happened I did have something silly set to mark the holiday. So I'm sharing it here. I love these little animated things. But then again, I'm easily amused.
Happy Thanksgiving

I hope that your mother is well enough to be released, and that your Thanksgiving is one filled with family...and many thanks.
Um, was the firefighter cute??? (You just know they usually are). Nightgown...falling into a firefighters arms...this is stuff that romance novels are made of. Since you're creative and also you're a writer...I bet you will be able to help your mother weave a tale about what "really" happened... Maybe you'll share the harlequin (wink, wink) story with us. lol
your mom sounds like a hoot! hope you have a great day honey!
smiles, bee
No need to write a post about being thankful...we all know how grateful you are and rightly so. Hope your mom is released from the hospital pronto and that you and your family have a wonderful and peaceful Thanksgiving Day.
15 feet up! A brave woman!
Thanksgiving wishes to you all.
Happy Turkey Day to you and yours!!!!! And be thankful that you Mom is ok....and as lynn asked "was the firefighter cute'????
lol...
Peace
Love the title of your blog.
you did have a lot to be thankful for. We are all very happy your mom is ok and I can't wait to hear her part of the rescue. For some reason, firemen mean a great deal to me - oh yeah I know why - my dad was one.
Your Mom sounds like one spunky gal! I am so glad to hear that the cath didn't show any blockage and that she was able to come home yesterday. That in itself is a lot to be thankful for!
wow that's just amazing. hope your mom can keep smiling after all that!

Sounds like your Mom rocks! I'm happy she has spunk and is facing this so well. It will probably sink in more as the days go by. I will keep all of you in my prayers.
