Shadow Shot Sunday

'Twas the first day of school Wednesday and I visited an elementary school to write a story. A friend and former colleague from many moons ago is the principal there now, and I wanted to capture her first "first day of school."
As you can see the kids and parents were waiting for the door to open to start the big day ...

The opening of school was delayed a day in the next town because of some power outages in the district. We lucked out and had no loss of electricity here at our humble abode.
I feel like I'm jinxing myself by writing that, since it is still hurricane season through the end of November.

Ralph and I didn't participate last week in Tracy's shadowy meme, because we were preparing for and getting nervous about the impending storm. But we're back. ;-)

I pray there are no more storms like Irene thinking about forming out there in the Atlantic. Just stay away!

Visit Tracy at Hey Harriet and join the shadowy fun!

My sister is THRILLED that school is back is session. She was counting down the days all through August. She has twin 11 yr old boys who NEEDED to get back into a structured activity schedule, especially the one who is in the autism spectrum. Oh, yes. Most especially him. ;-)

Enjoy your hurricane-free holiday weekend! Although that Katia looks like she might cause some trouble in a week or so.

I did miss you both last week...I always forget that those storms create a mess all the way up the eastcoast. (Poor VT!) Cool 1st day of school shot...I hope you posted this faceless pic with your article. Happy SSS and Labor Day too.

You were missed last week, Patti, and I was hoping all was well! Glad you weren't battered by Irene! Delightful shadow shot for the day! Since we didn't even have spring until about ten days ago, I have trouble realizing it's actually FALL! Hope you're not troubled with any more hurricanes!! Happy Labor Day Weekend!

There's nothing like a first-day-of-school story to warm the heart!

I LOVE MY SHADOW

I love my shadow,
My shadow loves me;
We chat together
And don’t disagree!

My shadow and I
Prefer not to shout
As we go walking
And rambling about.

My shadow’s so wise,
I ask what she thinks;
She’s happy to share,
And then nods and winks.

My shadow and I
Are best buds, you see;
That’s why we try hard
To always agree!

Very nice shadow shot and I bet there were a lot of very happy parents and kids that aren't in the picture! Or is that happy parents and sad kids?!?

I just read somewhere that Tropical Storm Lee may be bringing some rain to our area around mid-week though I'm hoping it won't be much rain as there are some areas that simply can't handle any more rain. We need to just send it all off to Texas!

A subtle shadow on the day's opening!
I'm so glad this was the only shadow on the day's event after Irene's passing.
And I'm glad you lucked out on your power. My son lost power for about nine hours but my daughter spent four days without it. I'm keeping an eye on Lee who needs to FLEE quickly. :)

We were wondering about you guys last week :) glad you made it through! We were a bit nervous for my husband's family who live out there on the east coast & they also made it with just a few limbs here & there! Love your shadow...the first day of school - got to love that :) sending off the kids & the nieces & nephews....our shop is a bit quieter this week - lol!!

Being a teacher, this photo is so special. School started here 2 weeks ago due to all the days we lose for snow and icing. Love all the feet waiting impatiently for the big moment. Hope all went well with the story. genie
