Tuesday thoughts

"Thinking? What's that? I'm just waiting for that squirrel to come back." ~ Linus

I usually try to keep things light and breezy on my blog, to amuse myself if nothing else. There's so much heavy stuff in the world and this is my small way of keeping things upbeat.

Today I veer toward the serious. Last week I wrote a story about the increasing need for donations at local food banks, a trend that seems to be happening in many states.
A local non-profit organization saw a drop in its collection at its annual Valentine's Day "Valley Has a Heart" food drive. You can read the story here.

Those of us who are blessed to be able to buy whatever we want at the grocery store should think about buying a little extra to donate to a food pantry. It will make a difference in someone's life.

Ahead of the times, for once

I call myself a Late Bloomer, but I've come to realize I've actually been ahead of the curve in one area: being able to survive in a high cost state on a " low budget," to quote The Kinks.
I should have thought about writing a handbook for surviving and keeping a family of four together on a "low budget" a few years ago, before it became trendy.
Dang.
Ralph and I have survived our own unemployment problems, recession, depression and downward spirals for years. And we are still here to talk about it.

Not my usual upbeat post, but it is what it is.

I have a joke from the e-mail bag to share...maybe tomorrow!

Thanks, merci, gracias ...

I put something out there yesterday and now I'm truly overwhelmed with the response.
I have a lot to write about but I avoid stuff that's serious. And in the past when I've tentatively ventured into that realm it seems like almost nobody commented...So I ditched the idea. But maybe I'll try again.

I appreciate all of your kind words, and I even received one from a "dangerous" Gemini and mother of three who lives in Miami.

Hmmm...I wonder how she found me? I'm not the dangerous type. ;-)
