Pearl Harbor should never be forgotten

Is it just me or was there hardly any mention of the 67th anniversary of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor?

Hello? Seems like everyone is holiday season-crazed and the day was more or less forgotten.
Lots of Americans mark Memorial Day and Veterans' Day, but Dec. 7 seems to merit less and less notice.

In our community there is a brief but moving program each year, because there are some people who refuse to forget.
And they are not only the veterans of all the conflicts since World War II . There were residents at the park next to City Hall who took time out of their busy schedules (it was held on Monday instead of the real anniversary Sunday) to remember those Americans who were killed and wounded on Dec. 7, 1941.

I covered the ceremony for the paper, and you can read about it here.

I was going to say that Sarge posted about it and Travis did, too, but you're right - mainstream America seems to close right over it just like they do D-Day and other days that really shouldn't be forgotten.

Lovely article that you wrote - as always!

Bee: It was a great post. I meant I didn't hear much about it in the national media. Unless I just missed it.

Duchess Linda: Thank you! D-Day is another day that seems to only get noticed on a major anniversary year.
