Shadow Shot Sunday ~ winter

Winter Sunset, February 2014

I shared this photo on Facebook and got quite a few comments and 'likes' so I thought I'd re-purpose it today as a shadow shot.

And to continue the wintry theme, a snowy shot from this week:

Sun and shade in the backyard

Brrr.....

Shadow Shot Sunday ~ sculpture and snow

I spotted this yesterday as I was leaving a company headquarters that I visited for a story for my job.
I'm not sure what it is, other than an interesting piece of art.

Any ideas?

We're expecting another snowstorm today here in Connecticut ...off to the grocery store (of course).

Hope you have a great weekend, snowy or not!

Shadow Shot Sunday ~ Yuletide

"I'm dreaming of a white Christmas..."

Our town's Christmas tree.

And here's a slightly different angle.

Spotted this at a religious book store in Derby, Ct. about which I wrote a story in December.

I'm happy to be back posting photos. The weeks are flying by, that's for sure.

Shadow Shot Sunday ~ scary

I snapped this photo earlier this month but never posted it.

I think today is the day to use it since Halloween is fast approaching!

Here's a video clip featuring my favorite scarecrow.  Enjoy.

Shadow Shot Sunday ~ after the reception

Shadows sometimes appear at night, as I found out Thursday when we were leaving a Valley Arts Council opening reception.
The guy on the right is our friend and arts council president Rich DiCarlo. And behind him is a shadow of yours truly taking the shot.

Ralph and I both have photos of food in the food-themed 'Delicious!' exhibit.
A good-sized crowd turned out - and it was free pizza for all!

It was a fun night.

Shadow Shot Sunday ~ guard duty

This pharmacy is next to a fast food place, so Mr. Gull isn't guarding anything but rather just waiting for French fries on a Friday afternoon.

Shadow Shot Sunday ~ peekin' through

Saw this next to our front walk the other day and had to take a photo for this week's Shadow Shot Sunday!

Shadow Shot Sunday

I dug into the "archives" this morning to find a photo so I could join in Shadow Shot Sunday!
I've been away too long from this fun meme.

I took this in September 2010. It's a mulberry tree in our front yard.

Shadow Shot Sunday

Good thing I took this photo when I did, on May 1. Since then the geranium blooms have disappeared; sadly the weather got cold again. I do hope they'll return.

I used this pic in a post yesterday, but I think I spy some shadows here.

Shadow Shot Sunday ~ spring!

In honor of our wedding anniversary and Mother's Day this weekend, I'm posting two of my favorite folks today.
Shadowy figures, aren't they?

We were at Ralph's sister's house last Saturday to celebrate her granddaughter's First Holy Communion.
It was a nice day with family and the weather was perfect.

Lilacs bloomin' in our yard.

The weather was perfect for most of yesterday as well.
I spy some shadows in this photo I took yesterday morning.
Today is dreary and rainy. Hoping for sunshine tomorrow. ;-)

Cheerful tulips in the sun. Happy May!

And as I mentioned on Facebook yesterday, I don't even remember planting these Easter tulips last year. But I'm glad I did.

Ah, sunny mornings that create shadows in our yard.

I'm happy to be back posting shadow shots after two months.

Shadow Shot Sunday ~ mystery man

Ralph (Airhead 55) at the computer.

And now ... just what you've all been waiting for - a portrait of Ralph from earlier this week.
He's wearing his wheelchair-friendly Snuggy to keep warm in our drafty house.

The laptop screen died, so he had to buy a monitor.

Shadow Shot Sunday

On Thursday I snapped some shadows I stumbled upon while taking a photo of a lamp post to go with a news feature.

I love mums!

And reflections!

These photos were taken in Veterans Park in Ansonia, Ct. After I took a photo of the lamp post, as an example of the ones that are being installed along our Main Street, I realized I caught more shadows. The stately structure is City Hall, built in 1905.

As you can see it was a beautiful early autumn afternoon.

Shadow Shot Sunday 2 ~ Ralph in shades

I snapped this photo at last week's Dr. Ya Ya Dirty Rice Revue R&B concert on the Derby, Ct. Green.

Ralph (Airhead 55 for the uninitiated) also used photos from the concert for his Shadow Shot Sunday offering today.

In the background you see the stately Sterling Opera House, one of my favorite buildings ever.

Shadow Shot Sunday ~ Tuesday concert

... at the Gazebo.

Ralph's shadow is on the left and I'm sitting next to him. I'm seated a bit lower than the wheelchair, which makes me look up to him!
Usually Ralph has to look up to me. ;-)

Shadow Shot Sunday

Ooooh, aaaah ...

Urban fireworks in Derby, Ct.

Ralph watching urban fireworks.

I spied Ralph's shadow in front of the Valley Arts Council's Gallery@37 before the fireworks started.

As you can see I had trouble with lighting.

Fuzzy photos ~ but I saw some shadows and snapped same.

Shadow Shot Sunday

{Straight out of camera shadow shot}

I had lunch yesterday at a new restaurant with daughter Allegra and a friend.

When we were paying at the counter our friend pointed out this shadow..he knows Ralph and I are into shadow shots!

Shadow Shot Sunday ~ memories

I've dropped the blogging ball the past few Saturdays and have not posted shadow photos, but last week I had an excuse: I was busy covering two live events for the newspaper.

Ralph accompanied me to both, so it wasn't a total loss. We were hanging out together and that's what counts. :-)
He wrote about our trip to the new Ansonia (Ct.) Fire Museum and posted photos of it today.

Our second stop that morning was to the Woodbridge Avenue Honor Roll and War Memorial, also in Ansonia. Two bronze plaques were stolen from the site in December.

Below is yours truly taking a photo at the memorial in December after the two bronze plaques had been stolen.

Shadow Shot Sunday 2

The afternoon sun on a window pane made this cross-shaped shadow on my guardian angel. Cool, huh?
The piece was created by my talented artist friend, Rich DiCarlo.

One morning last week our daughter put a water bottle on the dining room table, and this is what I saw.
