Pain at the pump gets worse and worse

I took these photos in southern Connecticut yesterday, June 4. I'm a better-late-than-never participant in Linda's Pain at the Pump meme.
I bought gas at the Mobil station I usually patronize (because I get a few cents from it going into our UPromise college savings account) and paid $56 to fill up my economy car (Hyundai Elantra).
A quarter-mile away I snapped this photo at the Shell station. Depressing, isn't it?

That is, indeed, painful. Very painful.

I was actually kind of surprised - well, shocked actually - to see that the price had gone down at a couple local stations when I traveled down West Main Street earlier today. Last week it was at 4.24 and today it was back down to 4.15. It's a miracle!! But will it last??

That is a miracle. I don't think it will last though. :-(

Someday we will look back on pictures like this and laugh....

Or *gulp* sigh nostalgically.

Yikes!

Linda's meme is a good one. I wish more people would play. I'm going to as soon as I wade through the peace globes.
We haven't hit $4.00 here yet.

Just don't come up to Canada... it will cost you twice as much to fill up your gas tank... it is outrageous here... I hope it gets better for all of us soon!

very depressing indeed! we did get $2.83 this morning in south georgis though but it was not that long ago that we could get ninety-nine cents down there...

Our experience here in SoCal is the same. I paid $4.29 per gallon for regular earlier in the week and then paid $4.39 yesterday...a 10 cent rise in just a few short days. Damn!

Yikes - and I was whining just yesterday when we say unleaded at 4.15 a gallon at a Chevron in "downtown" South Miami. I filled up that evening 11 miles away for 4.09 a gallon. I guess I feel lucky?

PS I sure hope Curmy is wrong with his latter 'someday forecast'.

PSS Patty, maybe we won't be RV-ing it with our spouses when we retire.
