Love babies? Of course!

Griffin Hospital wins Baby-Friendly designation

Several first-time moms and their babies attended a celebration Thursday of Griffin Hospital's designation as a Baby-Friendly hospital. Pictured from left are Alina Probierz of Seymour with Liliana Nowak, nine months; Meghan Cole of Milford with Ella, 11 months; and Jaimie Kassheimer of Ansonia with Zach Kassheimer, nine months. Griffin is one of only five hospitals in Connecticut to receive the designation. See story today for more on this upbeat award.

* I've been rather busy with writing for work this month (breast cancer awareness and all) and really can't think of much to write about here on Late Bloomer, so today I've decided to re-post from my work blog.

I've written two spooky stories for the Halloween season and looking forward to them running in the paper in the near future. Gotta have a little fun!

BOO!

What's better than pizza and cupcakes?

That was the menu for a first birthday party we attended Saturday for our niece's baby (see pizza boxes piled behind her!). Her aunt baked the birthday girl her own pink and white cake to shmoosh and enjoy. And she did. There were quite a few little ones under age 5 at the restaurant, which made it a bit chaotic but a lot of fun. Ah, the next generation is upon us!
Here's the birthday girl with her proud (and young) grandfather:

Nothing like being able to dote on your first grandchild! And dote he does.

But where's my rubber ducky?

This was going to be my entry for Week #5 of Roger's Creative Photography contest.

But I have been having much fun posting photos, and I thought I would share it today.

Our little guy is now 6 feet, 3 inches tall.
It looks like Cameron was enjoying his bath!

Never fear, I have another photo all set to submit for next week's contest, Roger!

Adam turns 1 - quite the milestone

HOWDY!

As promised, a few photos from Adam's first birthday bash. As you can see it had a cowboy theme.

The day marked a milestone because Adam is (was) a preemie. He was born three months early last year, at just two pounds, 12 ounces.

Now he is quite the chunk of baby, that's for sure. His godfather calls him Chunkaccino, a name I just love.

Here Adam looks like he might not be as tough as he thinks he is. It doesn't appear he wants his Dad to put him on the pony that arrived for the festivities.

But as you can see below, his doting Aunt Sharon managed to get him on the pony, for a quick photo shoot if nothing else!

His mom put WANTED posters up of her baby boy ...

... and we were just happy to be among his many well-wishers on this special birthday.

I held Chunkaccino!

And it was worth the wait.
Speaking of weight, he has a lot of it.
This is me with Adam yesterday at a restaurant. We were at Ralph's sister's 50th birthday dinner.
There were 24 of us, mostly family. I'm glad it wasn't a surprise party...Less stress all around.

I didn't get to hold Adam at his Christening party last Saturday. I had to wait a week for my turn. But I got a turn, and he didn't spit up on me or anything!
It's hard to believe this is the same baby born three months prematurely back in February.

As you can see from his football jersey, Adam is already a huge fan of the New England Patriots. Or at least his dad hopes that is the case.

Adam makes us all smile

On Saturday we attended a wonderfully happy family event: the christening of little Adam, who was born in February, three months too soon.
These days he is what his Uncle Rick, his proud godfather, calls him: "a chunkaccino."
Adam has grown from that skinny little guy in the incubator to a baby who is in the 90th percentile for his weight. When he was born he was a mere 2 pounds, 12 ounces. What a cute baby he is now.
Adam is still kinda sleepy, because he is actually only three months old.
His mother and father were all smiles Saturday as they doted over their little miracle.

Our day was already chronicled on Sunday by my one and only, Ralph, but I wanted to add my 2 cents.

(And I thought Empress Bee would like some cake).
