Birthday was a snow day, but that's OK

It's always good to warm up before you blow out your candles. Cameron caught me in mid-warmup.

We almost did a do-over, but it is what it is.

Cameron and Ralph made us a delicious birthday dinner. We appreciate all their planning and hard work!

Birthday wishes and a challenge

On Thanksgiving I had a piece of pumpkin pie; on Friday it was apple pie ... but on Saturday we ate cake!

Had to post this photo so I could say Happy 22nd Birthday to our Cameron!

I was thinking of giving up all things sweet until Christmas Eve. Who's with me?

Cake for moi!

Some things have not been going so great lately (breast cancer diagnosis and money woes come to mind), but in the spirit of taking the bitter with the better - or in this case the bitter with the sweeter - a few things have been going well.

And they're things that money cannot buy.

In the past few years I've been fortunate to have met some wonderful people and to have made several friends.

One of them is Troy, a guy who always makes me smile. Actually he cracks me up.

I just met him in April when Ralph, Allegra, and I attended a viewing party to watch the
SyFy channel's "Ghost Hunters" episode that focused on an investigation at the Sterling Opera House in Derby, Ct.
I just happened to be interviewed for that episode, and my interview was on TV. ;-)
You can read about my 15 minutes of fame here.

Once you meet Troy you feel like you've known him for years. He's a friendly chap, that's for sure.

Yesterday he surprised me with a delicious chocolate
Bundt cake he baked (see above).

He already told me
Bundt cakes were his specialty and he'd bake me one for my birthday, but instead I got the cake yesterday ~ five months early. It was such a cool surprise!

Thanks so much, Troy, you made my weekend!

* Happy Birthday to us *

Christmas, birthdays, and a new year all rolled up into one.

It was 22 years ago yesterday that our beautiful daughter was born. She was quite the birthday present for me!
And I was about 22 at the time.
Hahaha ... OK, I wasn't.

I'm just happy she didn't arrive on Dec. 25. That must be a tough day to have a birthday.

And today would have been my father's 100th birthday, so I, his only child, was his birthday present!
He was an "older dad," and when I was little some of my friends thought he was my grandfather.

Here's Allegra on her birthday modeling a Turbie Twist my mother got for her. It was a good gift, since she never quite got the hang of putting her wet hair in a towel.

Ralph devoted a post to us. Just click on his name to read.

Happy almost New Year to all.

We all have one ~ a birthday, that is

*50-something*
That's moi.
A child of the '50s, now in my 50s.

Our darling daughter was born on this date.
We share the day.
Today she is 19. She was, and still is, quite the birthday gift.
