* 25 Years *

Twenty-five years ago today Ralph and I tied the knot. Where does the time go?

At least we seem to get along pretty well. ;-)

I guess it wasn't a McGoofy idea after all!

I met McGoofy in May, 1986 on my first and only visit to Disney World.

Thoughts on care: giving and receiving

So now with my status as someone undergoing chemotherapy (I had my first treatment a week ago today) we sorta have adopted new roles in our household.
The caregiver (that would be me) has become the
caregivee.
And the
caregivee (that would be Ralph) has become the caregiver.
Sorta.
Kinda.

Ralph says it's a symbiotic relationship. He's right about that.
Now I get to play both roles: I still have the role of caregiver for him, but I am also getting a chance to be the one getting some care. Even if it's only lots of emotional support!

Oh, the challenges. But thus far we are are up to them.

Tomorrow we mark a major milestone. More on that later...

Love at first sight (not site)

Once upon a time, long before the Internet, there were dating services.

I signed up; so did Ralph. No, they weren't lonely hearts clubs; it was just a way to meet people that supposedly had similar interests, education, and the like.

It was a lot of fun, opening the mail and getting names of guys who were potential dates. I met more people than I wish to reveal here!
I was on my second dating service when I met Ralph in 1985. We agreed to meet at a restaurant. I actually was there before him. He was so angry with himself that he was five minutes late!

We hit it off on the first date..he did most of the talking (nothing has changed) and I liked the way he told me all about his family and his life. I knew then how important family is to him!

Well, we tied the knot on May 10, 1986...and today we celebrate 24 years of marriage.

That sounds like a long time, but as we know, time flies when you're having fun.
I think we're having fun. I keep asking Ralph if we are, and he always says yes.

~ A day to celebrate ~ and play with clip art

Today is a day for flowers (if only the online kind!) and chocolates (I hope!) and a wonderful dinner prepared by Ralph, my Airhead 55. (yay!)

One kid is home, the boy. Maybe he will wish me a Happy Mother's Day. One can hope!
Whenever one or both of our children has come back from school my first thought when I wake up the next morning is that they are home. That's motherhood.

The second reason that we are celebrating today is that it's our wedding anniversary! We tied the knot 23 years ago today. Ralph wasn't using a wheelchair then, but these people kinda look like we did when we got married. May 10, 1986 was a wonderful day. The weather was perfect, as was our wedding.

Woo hoo!

~ A special day ~

22 !

That's how many years ago it was that Airhead 55 and I tied the knot.

Happy Anniversary to me and Ralph. What's our secret, you ask? Dunno, I respond. Ask him.

Today we are going to meet our nephew's firstborn. We've never met him because he was born in Germany in January.
He will be christened and then we are celebrating by going out to lunch with family.
Not sure if we can post pictures of Caleb. We'll have to get the proud parents' permission.
I hope they say yes!
