Happy Fourth of July!

Urban fireworks ~ street scene, Derby, Ct.

We went to see the fireworks last night ~ it's fun, but they always look the same.

So, why do we fight the crowds and traffic and go watch them each year?

To celebrate our nation's independence!  Happy birthday to the good ol' USA!

I remember when I was a kid and fireworks only came once a year. Boy, did we look forward to seeing them! These days they seem to have fireworks for so many things that it's hard to get too excited about them but even so, you can't NOT go on the Fourth of July. Why, that would be downright unAmerican!

I'm grateful for your visit and your thoughtful comments. I just fixed a number of errors and otherwise revised my Internet independence post -- that post was not as polished as I'd have liked. Another of your comments may serve as the jumping off point for a family post; it will take a while to percolate.
