Shadow Shot Sunday ~ getting into the holiday spirit

I'm not one for November Christmas trees, but yesterday Allegra and I toured the classic Osborne Homestead Museum in Derby, Ct., where I spied these shadows created by the morning sunshine.
Each year local garden clubs decorate the home for the holidays. It opened for tours on Friday.

I wrote a story about it for the paper, which you can read here.

If you want to see lots of shadowy photos, visit our awesome Aussie friend Tracy, our hostess, at Hey Harriet.

I don't do a tree in November, although my mother usually puts hers up the day after Thanksgiving... but not this year!

When I was a little girl, my mother always wanted the tinsel put on ONE PIECE at a time so it would look close to this photo.
My brother and I would do as she asked until she walked out of the room..then we would start just throwing them on. lol
I KNOW she knew it but she always just said how pretty we did the tree. :))) Moms are like that, aren't we?

I am making Turkey Veggie Soup as we speak...using my left overs.
Also just put some leftover cakes and pies in the freezer and they will make another appearance on Christmas Eve night, tasting as fresh as ever. :))

Hope you are feeling well, Patti.

Love the shadows. Love the tree! I wish someone would drop by here an decorate a tree for my home. Wouldn't that be nice? Better still if they came back later on in Jan. to take it down!

I don't mind Christmas decorations in November as long as Thanksgiving is past. This is lovely!

I don't normally think of shadows and Christmas trees going together, but after seeing your photo, I've revised my previously held opinion!

SHADOWY DELIGHT

Shadows above me, shadows below,
Shadows beside me, wherever I go;

Shadows each morning, shadows at night—
Shadows, O shadows, you’re my delight!

That's a beautiful tree--even if it still is November. I love the way the morning light dances off the ornaments and the windows cast shadows on the floor.
